JENNIFER BLOCK writes frequently about women and health. Her articles and commentary have appeared in many publications, including Time, ELLE, Pacific Standard, Babble, the L.A. Times, the Guardian, Quartz, and the Washington Post magazine. She is the author of Pushed: The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care (2007) and has a second book on women's health in the age of empowerment forthcoming from St. Martin's Press. She lives in Brooklyn.
